Description
The Fender Custom Shop Limited Custom ’68 Stratocaster Maple Relic Aged Lake Placid Blue (2025) is a meticulous recreation of a late-sixties specification Stratocaster. The alder body features a nitrocellulose Lake Placid Blue finish with a controlled relic treatment, showing accurate wear patterns, checking, and edge fading that naturally reproduce decades of aging.
Its quarter-sawn maple neck with a Late ’60s profile delivers a firm and responsive feel. The medium-tint nitro finish replicates the vintage amber patina found on original instruments. The maple fretboard features a 9.5″ radius and narrow tall 6105 frets, offering a modern playing comfort while maintaining a period-correct look.
The pickup set consists of HW ’69 Strat CC units in the neck and middle, combined with a HW Fat 50 and a Tex-Spec Special as referenced in the Shop Floor Traveler, creating a well-balanced SSS configuration with a versatile 5-way selector. The tonal range spans from articulate and glassy cleans to more present, mid-focused textures, all while retaining the unmistakable late-sixties Strat identity.
Vintage-style hardware completes the build: a Custom Shop Vintage Strat bridge, Fender F-Key tuners and a 63–76 style nitro pickguard. The guitar comes with its original Custom Shop hard case, certificate of authenticity and all included accessories. Actual weight: 3.505 kg, ideal for resonance and dynamic response.
