Description
The Fender Custom Shop Limited Ariel Posen Stratocaster Journeyman Faded Lake Placid Blue 2026 is one of those instruments destined to leave its mark. Produced in an extremely limited edition of just 100 pieces worldwide, it represents the fusion of two of the most iconic guitars in Fender history: the playability of the Stratocaster and the tonal character of the Jazzmaster.
The idea came directly from Ariel Posen. For years, the Stratocaster was his traveling companion, until an encounter with a Jazzmaster introduced him to a broader, more open, and more dynamic sound. That tone captivated him, but the classic offset shape didn’t convey the same feel as the Strat. Hence the desire to create an instrument that combined the best of both worlds, maintaining the ergonomics and comfort of the Stratocaster while incorporating the rich, three-dimensional voice of the Jazzmaster.
The result is a guitar with a unique character. The roasted alder body offers an extremely resonant and balanced response, while the 1969 U-profile neck and 9.5″-radius rosewood fingerboard with 21 frets provide an instantly familiar feel yet a distinct personality.
The heart of the instrument is the two Ariel Posen Signature AP-90 pickups, developed with the legendary Tim Shaw. These are neither simple P90s nor classic single-coil pickups: they represent a completely custom design, blending the brightness and headroom typical of the Jazzmaster with the attack, body, and punch of a P90. The result is an incredibly sensitive response, capable of seamlessly transitioning from crystal-clear, harmonic-rich cleans to punchier tones, while maintaining definition, dynamics, and great expressiveness.
The electronics follow Ariel Posen’s philosophy: one volume, one tone, and a three-position switch. Nothing superfluous, just what’s needed to let the wood, the pickups, and, above all, the player’s hands do the talking. The hardtail bridge The vintage-style finish completes the design, increasing sustain, tuning stability, and vibration transfer, making this Stratocaster a true sound machine.
More than just a signature guitar, this is Ariel Posen’s personal interpretation of the perfect guitar. An instrument designed for those seeking something that breaks the mold without sacrificing the Fender identity, with a soul capable of moving effortlessly between blues, soul, rock, and all those nuances that make dynamics the true heart of music.
