Description
Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt Jason Smith Stratocaster Landau ’68 Relic Black 2020, an exceptional Stratocaster combining late-1960s Fender character with the craftsmanship of one of the Custom Shop’s most respected Master Builders.
The alder body is finished in Relic Black nitro, giving the guitar an authentic vintage appearance, while the rift-sawn maple neck with Landau profile provides a solid, natural and beautifully balanced feel. The AAA rosewood fingerboard features a traditional 7.25” radius, 21 Narrow Tall 6105 frets and a bone nut, preserving a strong vintage identity while remaining precise and comfortable to play.
At the heart of the guitar is a set of three Hand-Wound Strat Fat ’50s pickups wound by Josefina Campos. They deliver a rich, dynamic and highly three-dimensional voice, with warmth and depth at the neck, openness and definition in the middle position and excellent attack and presence at the bridge. The in-between positions retain the elastic, sparkling quality that defines a great Stratocaster.
A Landau Strat bridge, nickel hardware and vintage Fender tuners complete a carefully considered specification, while the 3.455 kg weight contributes to the guitar’s balanced and resonant feel.
This Masterbuilt Stratocaster is not simply designed to look like a great vintage instrument. It is built to react like one, translating every nuance of the player’s touch into sound with remarkable clarity and dynamics. A truly special Custom Shop Strat for players looking for authentic vintage character at the highest level of Fender craftsmanship.
