Description
A 1966 Fender Stratocaster in excellent overall condition, easily rated a 9/10 for its state of preservation. This instrument left the Fender factory in early 1966 and is now beautifully preserved, retaining all the typical characteristics of early CBS production.
The sunburst finish is original and retains the typical look of the era, with the subtle red hue between black and yellow ochre that characterizes the best Stratocasters of the time. The neck displays beautiful natural aging, giving it a lived-in, authentic look, with a darker coloration that further enhances its vintage appeal. The rosewood fingerboard is particularly dark and dense, a feature always highly appreciated by enthusiasts.
The neck is dated January 1966, while the pickups are the original 1966 grey bottom pickups. The electronics retain the original three-position selector switch and 1965-era potentiometers. The headstock features the classic Transition logo and is fitted with its original Kluson Deluxe Double Line tuners.
Sonically, it’s an extremely accomplished Stratocaster: very resonant even when turned off, with a remarkable acoustic response and a richly nuanced tone. The generous “C” neck profile enhances control and makes bending particularly easy, making it ideal for blues and all guitarists seeking the classic 1960s Stratocaster sound.
The guitar belonged to an Italian musician and comes with a tremolo arm, bridge cover, strap, and Polverini case.
Making this model even more special is the signature on the back of the headstock by the great Matt Schofield during his participation in Hendrix Day in Poviglio, one of the most famous events dedicated to Jimi Hendrix in Italy. This detail adds further personality to an already fascinating and history-rich Stratocaster.
