Description
This Gibson Flying V is a meticulous Custom Shop reissue of the mythical 1958 model, crafted from solid Korina (African Limba) — the same rare wood used in the original run of only 81 instruments. Part of the Historic Reissue series, it stays true to vintage specs with exceptional attention to detail.
The body features wide-grain Korina with a thin nitrocellulose clear finish that beautifully highlights the natural figuring. The neck is also Korina, with a late-‘50s chunky profile and an Indian rosewood fingerboard (12” radius, 22 medium jumbo frets, pearloid dot inlays). Neck joint and heel are historically accurate.
It comes equipped with a set of unpotted Custombucker Alnico III pickups wired through a 1950s-style circuit with Bumblebee capacitors and CTS pots. The tone is airy, articulate, and harmonically rich — perfect for blues and expressive rock tones. It features an ABR-1 bridge mounted directly into the body and a period-correct V tailpiece. Kluson strip tuners complete the vintage spec.
This guitar comes from Gibson Europa e has DEMO written on the back of the headstock.
This is an “Ex Demo” piece showing minimal playwear, but it’s fully original and in perfect working condition. Includes original brown tolex Custom Shop hard case and certificate of authenticity.
A stunning, accurate recreation of one of Gibson’s most iconic and elusive instruments, built with premium materials and historic precision.
