Description
Gibson Les Paul Custom Black 1971 Original Vintage. One of the most iconic Les Paul Customs of the Norlin era, featuring the unmistakable Black Beauty finish and all the features that made the early ’70s increasingly sought-after by collectors and musicians.
The body features a maple top and mahogany/maple/mahogany pancake construction, a typical construction of this period that gives the instrument a crisp attack, great sustain, and remarkable sonic presence. The mahogany neck with a nitrocellulose finish features a comfortable Medium C profile, while the ebony fingerboard, with a 12″ radius and 22 low-wide frets (replacement recommended), offers precise and fast playability, retaining all the charm of the Les Paul Customs of the era.
The electronics feature two original Gibson T-Top Patent Number humbuckers, controlled by the classic three-way selector switch. These pickups are now legendary for their tonal balance, with defined lows, rich mids, and open highs, capable of seamlessly transitioning from crystal-clear cleans to the big rock sounds that defined the 1970s.
The original ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, a key component of the Gibson design, contributes to the instrument’s sustain and immediate response. This 1971 Les Paul Custom perfectly embodies the character of vintage Black Beauty guitars: elegant, authoritative, and with a tone that continues to be a benchmark after more than fifty years.
