Description
The Free The Tone Silky Groove Compressor SG-1C is a boutique compressor designed and built in Japan, created to offer extremely natural and musical compression. Derived from the celebrated Silky Comp from the Custom Series, one of the brand’s most popular compressors, the Silky Groove inherits its transparency and dynamics while introducing new features designed to make it even more versatile and easy to use.
The goal of Free The Tone wasn’t to create a compressor that would completely overwhelm the instrument’s tone, but rather an effect capable of enhancing every nuance. The result is smooth, refined, and always natural compression, capable of increasing sustain, definition, and uniformity without sacrificing pick attack or playing dynamics. It’s the type of compressor that many guitarists choose to leave on all the time, precisely because of its ability to enhance the sound without making the effect noticeable.
One of the Silky Groove’s distinctive features is the Dry Mix control, which allows you to blend the compressed signal with the clean signal while maintaining the instrument’s full expressiveness. This is complemented by the proprietary HTS (Holistic Tonal Solution) circuit, developed by Free The Tone to preserve signal integrity, reduce background noise, and maintain the guitar’s original character even when the pedal is bypassed.
Thanks to its extremely musical response, the Silky Groove adapts perfectly to any context: from crystalline arpeggios to country, from funk to blues, from rock to fusion. It’s a compressor designed for demanding musicians seeking studio-quality performance in a compact package, further confirming Free The Tone’s reputation as one of the most respected boutique brands in the global guitar effects scene.
